Paddy PADMANATHAN

President & CEO, ACWA Power

Mr. Padmanathan, a professional Civil Engineer with over 35 years of experience, has served ACWA Power from 2005 as the company grew from a startup to where it is today; a leading private developer, owner and operator of power generation and desalinated water production plants headquartered in Saudi Arabia. Including projects in development, the portfolio has an investment value of $45 Bn. and can generate 29+ GW of power and produce 4.8 million m3 /day of desalinated water to be delivered on a bulk basis to state owned utilities and industrial majors on long term off-take arrangements under Public-Private-Partnership, Concession and Utility Services Outsourcing models of contracts., Focused on reliably delivering electricity and desalinated water at the lowest possible cost responding to customer’s preferences on technology and fuel, ACWA Power owns and operates some of the largest oil, gas and coal fired power plants. As the world turns increasingly to renewable energy, ACWA Power is also developing some of the largest solar power plants, of both CSP and PV technology and continues to be at the forefront in reducing the cost of renewable energy on a global scale and in promoting localization of technology and industrialization of the emerging economies in which it invest on the back of implementing such investments. , A graduate of University of Manchester, UK, Mr. Padmanathan started his career as a consulting engineer delivering infrastructure projects financed by the national treasuries and multilateral financial agencies and moved on to develop privately financed power, water and wastewater projects in over a dozen countries. In addition to his leadership and executive responsibilities at ACWA Power, he also serves on the Board of directors of several companies all serving the water and power sectors and on the Board of BESIX, a Belgian Headquartered engineering and construction company operating on all five continents.
