Directeur Général, Fonds Mohammed VI pour l’Investissement

Appointed CEO of the Mohammed VI Investment Fund by His Majesty the King in October 2022, Mr. Mohamed Benchaaboun, is a Moroccan Banker, Diplomate and Politician who held several positions, both in the public and private sectors. 

Mr. Benchaaboun has a solid knowledge of the Moroccan economy as he served as Minister of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reform between 2018 and 2021, before being appointed Ambassador of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI to France (2021-2023).

Mr. Benchaaboun is also a keen expert of the Moroccan banking system as he was Chairman of Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP) for more than 10 years. 

In September 2003, M. Benchaaboun has been appointed by His Majesty the King, CEO of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) (2003-2008).

His rich and diverse career counts several other positions, among them: Director of the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration, in charge of coordinating cross-cutting projects on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Director of the Industrial Department of the Alcatel Alsthom group in Morocco. 

Mr. Benchaaboun is also an active member of associations and institutions: he was an expert with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), President of the International Confederation of Banques Populaires from 2012 to 2015 and President of the French-speaking telecommunications regulatory network from 2005 to 2006. He was also a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council and a member of the Boards of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity and the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection.

Mr. Benchaaboun is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Paris.
